“My family and I started the Semrad Foundation as a way to give back to the communities we serve, but also to spotlight the causes we support and the wonderful people behind those causes. Their work brings real change every day. We hope learning more about them will inspire you to reach out and make a difference in your neighborhoods, too.

pejama program

The Pajama Program

Every child should have the right to a safe, nurturing environment at bedtime. Yet too many kids, particularly those in temporary housing, group homes and shelters, have never known this simple comfort. The Pajama Program provides new books and pajamas to children in need and maintains reading centers to help kids develop a joy for reading and a feeling for belonging. Our foundation is proud to support the Pajama Program’s vital work.

collomore

The Robbie Collomore
Concert Series

The arts bring wonderful depth to our communities and the Semrad Foundation believes that music, in particular, adds a special joy and richness. With our partners at iHeart media and the Robbie Collomore music series, we’ve helped bring classical, jazz, gospel and hip-hop events to our community.

For the 2017 Collomore series, we sponsor the unique talents of Ranky Tanky. The soulful songs of the Gullah culture are brought to life by this band of native South Carolinians who mix the low country traditions with large doses of jazz, gospel, funk, and R&B.

The 79th Street Renaissance Festival is the longest running festival in Chicago’s Auburn Gresham neighborhood. Over 10,000 residents and community and business leaders enjoyed the food, retailers, music, and entertainment during the two-day festival.

Sadly, gang and gun violence have become routine parts of day-to-day city life. Hundreds of young lives are cut short each year and thousands of families are left facing unspeakable loss. These senseless deaths diminish us all. But while we all feel the heartbreak, most of us feel we can do nothing to end it. Pastor Corey Brooks and Project Hood are confronting youth violence head on. Pursuing his mission — “ending violence and building communities, one neighborhood at a time,” Pastor Brooks and his outreach efforts Project Choices, Brothers on the Block/Sisters on the Street and Summit of Hope, provide neighborhood kids with positive adult role models and one-on-one mentoring.

The Semrad Foundation is proud to partner with Pastor Brooks and his community mission.

Visit the Project Hood website and find out how you can help Pastor Brooks give our children safer places to live.

Somebody’s Mama

somebody1somebody2Raising awareness and funding global projects focused on women’s healthcare, education, economic empowerment, and ending violence against women. Our own Agi Semrad is a recent “Mama of the Month: “The great thing being a mom has taught me is that love has no bounds. Raising two girls really deepens my commitment to empowering women. I know the obstacles they’ll face in life and the limitations others will place on them. But it’s nothing compared to the challenges faced by women in developing countries. It’s a great feeling to know that we’re doing something to help women overcome those challenges.”
